Henna Crowns Project

Chemotherapy drugs can cause many side effects, including hair loss. For many, your hair is part of your identity and losing it can be traumatizing (source). It can cause you to feel exposed and self-conscious. It might draw unwanted pity and attention from others.

Some people turn to wigs, hats or scarves, but for others these choices don’t suit their style. Both can be hot or uncomfortable, especially during the warmer months. Henna crowns provide another option. With henna, you can express yourself with beautiful, artistic designs. Henna crowns can incorporate meaningful words, symbols, or just something fun and whimsical.

Like so many, we at SARAHENNA have had some of our loved ones go through chemotherapy treatments. We know the financial hardship that often accompanies a medical diagnosis requiring chemo.

SARAHENNA wants to make henna crowns accessible to everyone that wants one.

$20,000

With your support, as of December 2021 SARAHENNA has donated nearly $20,000 in henna crowns to our community.

Your donations support our work and allow us to offer henna crowns to as many people as possible.

We are making a difference

“EVERYWHERE I go, at least a few people comment on how beautiful my crown is. I find that I actually look forward to going out in public now, to see who might have the courage to approach me to talk about my head :) Your art has empowered me!”

Our Goal: Increase Accessibility

  • Grow Our Team

We can increase accessibility by adding new henna crown artists to our team. Hiring and training artists in more locations will allow us to expand our outreach.

  • Spread Awareness

Many people going through chemotherapy aren’t even aware of henna crowns. We want everyone to know these are a beautiful and fun alternative to wigs, hats and scarves.

  • Increase Donations

We’re grateful for the support we’ve received over the years, and could not do this without you. We hope to find more individuals and businesses that want to help us make a difference in our community.

“I can not thank you enough for my beautiful Henna Crown. The whole experience had been so positive and empowering. When I left the shop was the first time I’d had gone in public with my head uncovered.

I wish everyone could experience the same joy I have and plan on paying this kindness forward for the rest of my days. God bless you.” — Leslie M.
